It's amazing what you're doing for these animals, reminds me a little of one of my friends. Ha. Well while you're helping these animals in the US, we're helping animals in Korea, and my friend is helping them in Australia. It's amazing how even though we're half way accross the world from eachother we can all relate in some way, the love for helping animals. Please visit our website www.animalrescuekorea.org it is a non profit(not official) run by foreigners all through out korea. We have a no kill shelter we are trying to improve. We get animals from kill shelters and place them here in hope that someone will adopt them. There are more than 500 dogs and cats that we have been given the opprotunity the chance to help out. I guess all i'm trying to say is thank you for what you do, and if you have time visit our website. (:

Hi, I want to ask you , where did you buy, or where can I buy a wheelchair for dogs.
I am from Romania and we don't have the possibility of buying something like that here.

Thanks,

I would be happy to take Charity if she is still available. I have 2 other Chihuahua's...one on the verge of needing a wheelchair (inbred...very bad knees) In fact I was researching the wheelchair when Charity came up.!!
She is Such a cutie!!

I'm SO glad you didn't listen to those first vets and put Charity down! I have a Rat Terrier that I adopted that is handicapped. 10 months after his accident his family decided they needed to find him a new home or put him to sleep. I've always wanted to adopt a handicapped dog - in addition to the other dogs I have - and was on PetFinder.com one night and saw him by chance. There was just something about those eyes in his pictures. I knew I couldn't leave him. I drove to New Jersey from North Carolina to get him. He did 6 months of underwater treadmill therapy twice a week for 30 to 45 minutes at a time. I got him some wheels too - but he doesn't use them much anymore. If he does use them, it is outside. He gets them caught on too much stuff in the house. We replaced all of our carpets with laminate flooring since we have so many dogs, and put rugs all thru the house for him so the floors aren't hard and so he doesn't slip around. We built quite the get-up on the back of our house with thick outdoor carpets so he can go outside without me being there 24/7 and so he can be outside with the other dogs. We try to do as much as possible so he feels like a "normal" dog. He is such a sweetheart. He has been thru so much, and yet still loves with all his heart. The amazing part is - all of the other dogs don't see his handicap. He's just "one of the boys" to them. We have a 7 month old daughter now, and that makes things a little trickier, but we're determined to make sure all of the dogs still get their lovins and attention! lol I think people have issues with their dogs after babies come because they flat out ignore them. Obviously, things aren't going to be the same. But dogs are quite adaptable, and as long as you don't totally emotionally abandon them, they will be fine! Our daughter LOVES our dogs. She gets a huge kick out of them - and they love her too! There are days when I look at Buddy (our handicapped dog) and wonder how in the world anyone could have just put him to sleep because he had a simple handicap. He's so happy, and full of life and energy, and so loving. What a loss it would have been! So KUDOS to you for not giving up on Charity! She's a sweetheart! That video of her in her wheels made my day! It made me smile and giggle and cry all at the same time!

OH! And I am sure you know about it, but www.HandicappedPets.com is a GREAT resource for handicapped pets! Lots of info, tons of great products!!!

I am also wondering the same as wandaherman. I have a 3 pound chihuahua that has no use of his hind legs due to luxating patellas. He had surgery, but for some reason he got worse and never recovered. I would love to know where to get a small wheelchair like this one.
Thank you.
